Michael Beckett lives in Norton. He is in his early thirties and he is married to Abigail. Before University he worked as a volunteer on an agricultural project to educate urban children on some basic rural issues.

He has studied Local Government and Local Economics at the University of London. Since completing formal studies, Michael has worked in the NHS; the social care sector; in housing; in youth work, and the regeneration of inner city communities.

He works as a Manager at York Citizens Advice Bureau. In his 'spare' time Michael works in the voluntary and community sectors in Ryedale. As a Luttons County Primary School Governor he supports the staff's effort to enhance children's education. He has served as Malton Town Councillor gaining practical experience.
